driving home in the wet on wednesday night in melbourne, two headlights approach from the opposite direction about 50mtrs away then after blinking or something the car is side on in front of me turning right into a side street. I lent with both hands on the wheel away from the car and managed to just clip him on the rear bumper. It was a bloody holden premier so it had a chrome bumper which I hit square on my xc coupe dual headlight grill and passenger guard.
once I got out of the car the pissed driver said “sooorryy maaan, I didn’t see ya there” noticing that there was something wrong with him, I called 000 they said they don’t attend accidents and hung-up, I called again and said some pissed guy just cut in front of me and totalled my front end. the girl on the phone took my details and the street names and said, police will attend soon, I’d just hung-up when the mobile rang and the police were on the phone, the first thing he said was is anybody injured to which I replied with “no” he then said they would not attend.
i’d already asked for this guys licence and he said he didn’t have it on him, and it’s not his car it’s his girlfriends, he’d just called her and she’s on her way with her learners license. i said to the coper that being an old car his not going to have insurance or the $400 excess to pay and my only justice would be for you to breathalyse him and take his license, the cop said it’s now a civil matter and they don’t get involved beside I wasn’t qualified to say if his drunk or not, they hung-up.
i got his name and address and his girlfriends learners license number and went to the local cop shop to report all of this.
the next day I called him and reminded him of who I was to which he replied with “so” the said he had legal advise that I hit him from behind and it’s my fault. i was in the middle of saying that he failed to giveway and turned into on coming traffic when he just hung-up.
this prick has obviously gone threw life with taking responsibility for his actions, and god knows how many other people his screwed.
i’m now waiting on the cops to follow up the report and look at the bumper of his car for the evidence, I’ll get nothing from going to court and have already source all my parts which was $350 for the grill $150 for a perfect rust free guard and I’ll bolt it on the weekend but will and to get my radiator support pulled straight sooner or later.
I will be writing to the police commissioner and the talkback radio to find out why they let drunk drivers drive away from an accident they’ve just caused.
sorry to bother you all but I just needed to get this off my chest.

It sux, it really does. There just aren't enough cops out there doing police work anymore. The pollies use them as revenue raisers and then the actual policing is left to even fewer police. I suppose you could of made a citizens arrest but that can ope

Thanks for all your advice/support.
There’s been another disgraceful development, last night I went passed the police station to follow up on what’s happened and it would appear that the officer that look my complaint is a part-timer and has not entered

No offence but...that is where a Baseball Batt comes in handy if everything else fails.

This may sound harsh but, I have no trust nor respect for the Melbourne Police. Similar thing happened to me couple of years ago. They looked at me like a first cla
