Has anyone heard of these breaking on HQ-WBs the lower wishbone breaks on front suspension.....the break causing very bad results if at speed.
Did Holden fix it by WB and or is there a reason or fix for this....?

Ive only had a lower ball joint failure, luckily I was at the lights and not still driving (had just driven 550ks).

Ive only had a lower ball joint failure, luckily I was at the lights and not still driving (had just driven 550ks).

I've had the upper wishbone mount break where it's welded to the chassis on my HZ. Luckily I caught it when it had just a little crack and was driving very gently when it finally let go.

I had the lower wishbone on the HQ ute let go at 70 mph - not a nice feeling my girlfriend (wife now) was driving. We careered across the opposite side of the road on three wheels, just missed a panel van and ended up in the table drain. No major damage,

So no hard and fast remedies....just dont buy lotto tickets
I wonder if fatter front wheels put more strain on wishbone.

my HQ,s lower left front ball joint broke at 70 km/h on a sweeping right hand bend at 3am, many years ago, went sideways for about 50m straight into a concrete power pole. The result , destroyed the l/h rear door , quarter, bootlid & bumper bar. Just fi

Ouch! That would be nasty.
As for the tires. I had the bog standard Grand Rally S which were ER70s or 185s not sure.

I,ve had the upper wishbone weld crack on my HZ as well just caught it in time i think.What causes these to crack.

I have seen a HZ being hauled onto a tow truck at a set of lights at the end of a highway (lucky for them they had just finished travelling at 100kmh). The position of the front wheel looked like a lower balljoint or wishbone had let go. This was about 18 |

A mate of mine bought a hx statesman for parts about 15 years ago, it had a huge tear in the chassis rail right behind the r/hand lower control arm. I,ve heard of these cracking in that spot, but had never seen anything as bad as that one. Probably starte
