Hi folks !
Just watching Bathurst, and its sort of, OK. Sort of. Just wondering what sort of gearbox these cars use. Some sort of paddle box ? The gear change is way too fast for a 4-speed of old.
Dont look like REAL cars..sad to say.
TIA, John

OK thanks for the info..got it. They all run the same boxes ~ homologation stuff. Glorified paddle gears in manual. Easy.
Bet theyd crap themselves with a 3 speed Valiant box or 4 speed M20. AND no power steer.....pampered pusses.
Cheers all, John

They are also a DOGBOX which means they have a dog engagement instead of syncros.
With this set up you can just slam the gears home very quickly with no clutch and usually full throttle, they are still a full manual gearbox.
There once was a time whe

I think I preferred it when most of the drivers were grumble-bums(but at least funny in a dry sort of way) and the cars broke down more often(it was always interesting to see what would let go first).
But FORD WON so Im pretty HAPPY!!!
sorry

if you dont slam each gear home. they will tear themselves apart. but i know a guy who turned spanners for a commodore race car a while ago said. if you can drive a road ranger box. you can work out these boxes.
