Being a avid ebay watcher and fastlane reader I am noticing a trend or natural leveling of the prices of the muscle car range. I remeber when a hk bathurst was $5500.00 and and i once saw my own brother swap a bathurst monaro and cash for a brand new JB Camira. Who had the better deal now. I have watched some amazing prices paid for items on ebay and wonder whether they are just run up or some one with not alot of knowledge has paid too much.
Its wonderful to see someones old monaro bring them $160,000.00 plus but have these days gone. With the way the econonmy has gone i have noticed a decline in the prices of the classic muscle cars. Even items sold relisted time and time again.
I feel sorry for those who have re mortgaged their homes to buy a muscle car at top dollar and then watch them slip down in price. will they ever make a return on the investment?

I cant believe what ebay has done to the swap meets. I picked up a hubcap for a hk gts with gutter rash and asked the price. $165.00... i commented i did not want the whole set, He said it was just for the one and he would get that on ebay. My return comment was..dont bring it to a swap meet if you are selling it on ebay. swap meets used to be a great place to pick up a decent priced spare. Now I just see them as a place to catch up with people you know lol.

My monaros are worth nothing..As they are not for sale. I bought them before the hype began and because i wanted one for as long as i remember.
I am am just interested in the the forums general feelings on how the pricing has gone over the last two years for monaro's and spares.
everyones comments are welcome as this up and down etc is truely amazing.

My personal feeling towards those people that have bought cars as an investment and now that the value of "some" cars like the share price are taking a drive.
Is, GOD HELP YOU.

I love the cars for the car not to make money out of the car.
A good car

Supply and demand, once investors get involved its time for hobbists to stand back and wait until people can find a better investment.Prices will never go back to 1990 level but there will be more cars available so prices will be cheaper. Notice that secon

Swaps are getting a bit morbid with people dragging the same stuff around to each swap for years still holding out for that big dollar.
I went to the Gawler swap in SA arguably the biggest in SA, It didnt appear that people were buying a great deal( mone

I reckon good cars with matching numbers will always sell Ok, but its the peripheral stuff like questionable cars that people arent prepared to gamble on.

I went to a blokes place the other day to pick up some torana bumpers and he had an amazing yard

I looked at a car that was advertsied for X dollars and I offered very much lower than the asking price. Less than half in fact.

He basicly told me to piss off with my offer. I gave him my number and told him, at least you know you can get what I have

Before everyone gets carried away with the rise and rise of ebay and all that its not good for, because there are plenty of people who will argue the the online bidding game is just a sham.

Just think for one minute,

The advantage of ebay for sellers is that you get market value rather than someone trying to beat down a reasonable price. Nearly every item I have sold at a swap was "haggled". So as a seller I would rather not go to a swap meet.

As a buyer though I l

As a buyer (perhaps even as a seller) I prefer the old trading post type experience. Someone advertises something, with a set price. First person willing to pay that price buys it.

I dont like auctions.

I sell on Ebay but I will keep on topic... Its worth what someone is willing to pay.

Aussie "Muscle car" prices were always too low until investors woke up to the rarity of some of our home grown beauties.

I have a VR Acclaim that would be about as

I hope my post has open the eyes of some investors who think that the high return is in selling cars. I am seeing the slide in prices affect so many people. So many cars are for sale now but are back to a level and realistic price as I have stated before.

The advent of the internet has enabled all people to get involved in Monaros. The reason the Falcon GT was valued high compared to a GTS 350 was due to the fact that the Falcon GT circles are much bigger than the Monaro circles. GT guys also took more pri
