Anyone know anything about the new Rarespares rare quarter sections? They have only just come out but someone must have brought one! :)
I had a look at them at the Nationals and they look ok. I was told by the rep that they are made from the original Holden press in Melbourne, which is a bonus.
Im hoping there is a panel beater or fabricator in here that has seen them or is working with them and can give me a opinion.
Regards, Matt |

The rare spare sections are perhaps better than nothing but they are a long way from correct in material thickness and defining line. They do not align with a genuine 1/4 panel. I have no commercial interest in this but as a Monaro owner it is good to sha

being a good friend of both pete and tom peach and having seen the effort, sweat and tears that went into the making of that panel and the finished cost, you would be happy to pay for the rare spares item. that particular panel the 2 made, was trial fitte

Ozchevy is correct in how they made the tools in the past but not how it is done now.Rear Panel is also correct in talking about the hand made panels but neither method is used by Rare Spares in their production ways. There have been many comments about

rares spares should be congratulated on the efforts they make in helping restorers everywhere. the range is constantly growing and you guys should all support them so they will continue to grow to help you. remember, the alternative is not much better.

The original tooling was made as Ozchevy describes, possibly at GMH Woodville in the mid 1960s as a huge pair of dies. These fitted in a multi purpose press that stamped it out and formed in one piece at a pressure of 600 tons or more. The panels would ha

Tour Director, I think you would find I am correct on how they make a Die now, its just that Rare Spares would not be able to afford to make the tooling in CAD/CAM format, or as the site suggests they do not use quality tool steel and harden the Dies, as
