I have an M20 and want to replace it with the low ratio M22. The M22 I have has the 3.74 first gear but the long V8 input shaft.

Can I swap the shaft for a six cylinder M22 input shaft or is there more to it than that?

Thanks
Greg

Yes you swap the input shaft 6cyl m22. the 3speed 6cyl is the shaft you want same as m22. But you may have to remove the main shaft as there ars roller bearings that insert and then you install the main shaft. Have never attempted a input sharf swap only

I'll swap you or buy the V8 3-speed input shaft off you if it's case hardening is still OK. I'll have to check that I've still got an M22 6cyl shaft. Just remember that there are two kinds of shaft. One has a oil slinger and one has a seal like a harmonic

Thanks Byron. I have found a 6 cylinder shaft at a gear box company in Sydney and I will pick it up tomorrow. I will take the V8 shaft with me to make sure I have the right one. The V8 box I have has new bearings and a few other parts in it but has no

Sorry I did not get back to you last night Byron. The shaft has two tiny spots on the edge of the case hardening. I would say it is the first signs of it going. If you want it you can have it.
