Hi all.

My name is John and I have just become the owner of a XK Falcon Ute.

I am trying to decipher the ID Tags and I am looking for someone with the expertise to help me with this.

As I am new to this Forum stuff, and the possible restoration of this old banger, I am looking for help in this instance if possible.

The ID Tags read as the following:

These Numbers are from the VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION PLATE

SERIAL PREFIX 3B861

SERIAL NUMBER 3122

MODEL 4270

PAINT 2BBB

TRIM Q2

BODY V402

The following Numbers come from the plate on the Left Hand Door.

3800 LBS

34 CWT

MODEL CODB-LT.COMM

The Chassis Stamp Number and the Engine Number are the same.

It reads ZSH32115M

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated or even some direction in where I should be looking to decipher this information.

Thankyou to all and Happy Motoring.

I can't help with the other stuff but the model number 4270 means it left the factory with a 144 cubic inch high compression engine a 3 speed manual transmission and it's a pre November 1961 model.

Sounds to me like you may have Australias first falcon ute on your hands. According to all I know, the first one built was stock standard, pale blue in colour, and the numbers you have provided indicate to me that your sitting on a real piece of aussie mot

Thankyou for your help with that Henry.

What I have found out so far is that its a 1961 August built XK Falcon Ute with a Powder Blue Paint Colour and a Blue Vinyl Interior.
It also left the factory with a 144 C.I.D. High Compression 6 Cylinder Motor,

Sorry to hijack your thread, but I was hoping DEON could help me with my tags too.

I've managed to decipher all but the serial prefix on both my XK's. They are listed as 4R.6.62 and 4R.12.61 - what does 4R designate?

THanks

Draxx.
I can tell you that the 4 stands for Australian Model Reference.
The R I am not so sure about. It is an assembly plant code but I dont know what R is!
As for the next lot of numbers, the first is the month made and the last is the year made.
