Hey Guys, Im Restoring a HX sandman Panno and im finally getting down to the little things. The fuel gauge on it has shitted me ever since i brought it bcoz it never goes past 3/4 full ever when ive just filled it up.
My Mate who owns a HJ Sandman also has the problem and its driving him insane to.
So we both would love anyones help. Thanks in Advance

Yes a common problem. Its not the gauge, what happens is that the float finaly gets saturated with fuel and looses its bouyancy. what you must do is remove the sender from the tank and with a bit of wire earth it to the chasis to manualy put it in the ful

That can cause it, but I've found that it tends to be the windings rather than the float. If you find it isn't the float, then take it to an auto gauge place, and they should be able to sort it out for you. Or Rares do a changeover unit.

I had the exact same problem in my HQ. There are loads of different senders and gauge configurations. In the end from rare spares i bought the guage and sender as a pair. Testing that the sender works by earthing it is a good place to start.

Rares have been doing changeover fuel sender units for years.As mentioned there are numerous configurations and they have the experience.They also have the parts needed to fix them.
