Any one know where i could get film of engine blocks. and all the other parts being made. from making the mold to pouring the mold to the finishing off the product.
I have only seen reject pistons in a big wire cage at ACL. but could not go in to see them being made. same as the public can not see holden or fords being made now.

There may be something posted on YouTube. An engine casting process is similar to other cast items.

There is a series on foxtel called "how its made"
They are up to about season 9 or 10 now. They normally have 3-4 items they follow for around 6-8 minutes.
2 things they have featured have been pistons, and engine blocks, among many other interesting a |

i work in a foundry and make all sorts of castings,from gearboxes, manifolds, heads ect, what exactly do you want to know??
ive been for a tour through holden (engine plant), mahle (pistons), and harrop (foundry and machine shop), i worked at john valves

I would like to see how its done. the whole process start to finish like casting engine blocks & heads, crankshafts & how forged are twisted through 90 degrees. i know basically what is done, but seeing it done would be the bees knees. anything to do with

basicly all you do is make a mould out of sand and melt the metel and pour it in the mould, if your in ballarat i would be happy to show you how its done, if your not in ballarat let me know and i will take some photos or video to show you how its done

i did work expirience at J.S engineering when i was 15 for school for 9 weeks my job was to cut the runners and feeders off bang any sand out and debur the casting. i would catch the train home blacker then the blackest black fella. |

Holden do not have the money to be able to make the alloytec V6 block in aus. it was 400 million dollar deal. so its not that simple. we do not have the precision tec. we make the heads & maybe the rest.
