I have a 351 clevo with about 450hp and a c10 behind it. I just spent $3500 on the auto and I have done about 300k in it now it is making a squelling noise when i accelerate in 3rd gear from about 40kph and it is not stalling up untill about 4000rpm. It has a dominator 2500 convertor in it and it was stalling at 2500. I took it back to the bloke that fixed it he said the convertor is stuffed and i need to get the whole auto rebuilt. no warranty on the convertor because i supplied it.
Are dominator converters crap?
Has anyone else had problems with them?
Does it sound like the conveter is stuffed or something else?

Would probably say something in the converter let go, broken stator at a guess. Dominator has a good rep as far as i know, so long as the converter was spec'd for the app.. What sort of quality (ie $$$) was the converter. Good converters cost big money

I once had a 2500rpm Dominator in my 351, it was a nice convertor, but I did not have 450hp in front of it. What diff ratio are you running? What cam do you have coz 2500 seems a bit low for a 450hp clevo?
