Hi there,

I am in the process of planning the rebuild of the 308 for the HQ. I have electronic ignition, extractors, quaddy and a performer manifold.

I was thinking of getting a Crane H276 cam which seems to fit in the rev range and lift for mainly torque and not high revving horsepower.

I was toying with a 333 offset ground with the small journal chev 5.7" rods and ACL lighter pistons.

My question is do I need to stroke to reach that power figure or would i be better off just spending the money on high quality parts for a standard stroke?

I am planning on talking to a local guy before starting the rebuild but I wanted some peoples opinions from here.

Cheers

Brian

Stroking it is the easiest and possibly the most cost effective way of developing torque which is what you need to develop serious RWHP.

i agree with byron, but i think those numbers your after would be possible with stock stroke and bore configuration.

Pete is right, but with a stroke to 350 cubes (cheaper and easier than stroking to 327) you wont have to do barely anything else to it to get 250 RWHP at sensible revs.
To get a stock stroke 308 to give you 250RWHP itll need a little bit more work and hp
