Hi all

To cut a long story short, was in the vehicle inspection centre today finding out about some legalities to do with my HZ rebuild and the last comment made as I walked out was:

"The only real problems youll have is if the chassis number doesn't match the body plate."

Went home and checked mine straight away and guess what???....... yep they're different.

So my question to anyone is, what does this mean and what does it mean when I go to register the vehicle?

It is currently unregistered, had a few thousand spent on the resto and now I'm wondering do I spend anymore??

Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks

Roy

gday Roy,

As the above guys have stated, do everything by the book, go to the RTA, have it checked and ask what you need to do about it.
When they give you information on what to do get it in writing or take down the persons name that told you what yo

Thanks to all for the replies.

From what I have been told from the guy I bought it off, it was a SA car. (Rego sticker on the window confirmed this.)

The car is now in WA. I rang SA authority and gave all numbers over the phone, (engine, chassis and

I have to get my HQ registered too. Which is the best (metro perth) place youd recommend taking it to. Or it is a case of doesnt matter where if the inspectors had a bad day forget it.Are they really fussy with these cars.

most chassis numbers in SA are not recorded up to 1980 on early Holdens.

I took mine over the pits in WA about 6 months ago.

I took it to the Perth Central depot (mostly car yards use it) and found them to be pretty good.

I did have to go through twice - the first time pulled me up on exhaust noise, and faded rear lenses

Thanks to all who replied. I spoke to a lady in the licensing from SA and she seems to think that common sense will prevail. After all, we are talking about a 30 year old car.

Ill post some pics later on on the progress.
