Hi All, I have been trying to chase information about a car I purchased a couple of years ago but it has not been easy and I dont seem to be getting anywhere
Things I know about the car: It was first Registered in NZ 21-Oct-1971 It has an AUS body plate and VIN Plate as well as an NZ VIN Plate. It doesn't have an AUS Compliance plate (Understandable as it presumably was an export car)and doesn't have a chassis number stamped next to the steering box. It was a Sydney built car and has a number stamped on the firewall (which I am told has no significance) I purchased it with no engine or gearbox.
What I Would Like to know: How can I prove that my HQ coupe is the model the body plate states it is. (Yes it had the original holden rivets on the plates but they can be purchased) How can I be 100% certain it was a manual or auto with out the Comp plate? (It didn't have the clutch pedal but it could have been changed in it's life)
I am genuinely interested in finding information about my car and even history about my model, I've tryed from NZ end to no avail and I have tryed from AUS end to no avail. I am not real keen on giving out the numbers as it is (according to the Body Plate) an 81837 (yes I know there were 402 built 206 manual and 196 auto) but if anyone can give me direction to someone that may know I would appreciate it. I have been trying for the last 2 years to collect info and thought I would try here, see how I go. P.S. Would love to know how many of the 402 where exported, wouldn't be many!!!

If the car is manual you will have a hump on the side of the tunnel, but we have seen some ordinary copis of these over the years.
The clutch set up is also unique and requires holes drilled in unique places.

the export 350 statesman i have which is an 8/71 going by gearbox date and other factors also had no chassis number and no engine number and only 2 id tags...it also does not have a firewall number....

Gday classic oz wreck, Was yours a CKD or built here? I presume an Aus built since it has the Body and VIN tags? Interesting. I heard that only the Pagewood built cars had the firewall number? Why is beyond me? Is yours an Adelaide car?

Gregs was a Pagewood car I think. It had no ADR tag, no chassis number and no GMH engine number. It was reportedly in Australia since new, but I get the feeling that it may have been imported from NZ when new. Not sure why it didnt get a firewall number, |

Hi Warren, can you give me some more info on your previous post: "The clutch set up is also unique and requires holes drilled in unique places". I have been told my car is a manual version and I want to make sure that it is, besides having the trans hum

The 350 manual clutch hole in the firewall is located differently to other HQ manuals, so check against a known manual HQ.

Thanks Warren, Have already had the PSN checked and it all checks out as the correct matching body. Was surprised about it originally being a 4 speed car though so I just want to check it out completely.
