Is there a register for cars that have been written off and then repaired? How do know if a car you are looking at to buy is on the list? Ta, Ken

ring vic roads and ask em. Quote engine number and chassis number.

If you are in VIC :). if not then try your local main roads

ta, Im in NSW. I will ring RTA Tuesday. I found some info on what it is on their web site but not how to find out if the car is on it / was on it. Regards, Ken

You need to ring the RTA and have all the deatails ready. If the car isn't on the list it still doesn't mean it hasn't had a whack. Get the car on a hoist and have someone that knows their job to search for any signs of repairs, good or otherwise. What

there are no write offs that are sposed to be resterable any more to stop rebirthing/dodgy repairs
mind you a few economic write offs still get through
but to my knowledge there mostly stolen/recovered

Ive actually bought it (silly me). Its a one owner wagon but I only noticed that one of the front panels and bumper has been off and replaced. The panels fit very well and all the under body items are straight but I was just wondering about the written of

firstly it would take nothing to write off a BA there mostly thin metal and plastic...

as for checking type the vin or chassis number on the vic roads website...

also repairable write offs are fine to buy exspeccialy if there done properly, you shou

Qld version.You buy a repairable write off from auction,repair it,then you must take it to govt authorized inspection place & they check it out & ok it-in simple terms!!

Thanks for the info guys. Very helpful. The only ongoing problem I have with the wagon is the aircon flooding the carpet. Again. And its a bugger to try to clean the outlet. Very hard to get to.
