Our EL Fairmont has started intermittently not stooping when the key is turned off, we have noticed that the volt metwer falls to zero when the key is turned off, but the temp and oil gauges are still operative. I would apreciate help from any one who knows of this problem and a remedy. Cheers in advance.

Could be something to do with the smartlock computer. I had the reverse problem with this system & Ford technical services recommended turning the ignition on for 1 hour (without kicking the starter) this resets the computers & is worhth a try. Al

I havea similar problem with my EL Auto. The following happens very randomly and is a pain in the backside when I'm least expecting it. I turn the key on, the dashboard lights up, the smartlight flashes continually (but quickly) and the starter motor does
