Hi all, I have a 10 bolt disc brake salisbury diff as a spare and would appreciate it if somebody could tell me how to remove the brake rotors and axles. The control arms, backing plates and calipers came off OK but seems like I might break something if I persist. Thanks

Hi what model statesman as they may differ,but as far as i know ,just undo the 4 bolts and persuade with a hammer.not forgeting the handbrake cable if its in the way.tapping around the neck of the axle housing and prying in axle out. failing that maybe bu

spin the disk so the holes line up
and undo the 4 bolts
or get a manual from supercheep
spin the disk for each bolt

Ill assume from your name, that the diff is an HZ or WB type Salisbury, not a Commodore one.

I dont see how you removed the backing plates if the rotors & axles are still there, but.

You need to remove the discs from the axles to get to the 4 nuts w

fIRST YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE CALIPERS, THERE IS TWO BOLT ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE CALIPER.
Then lift of the caliper upwards.
The disc will then just pull of easy.
Spin the axel to expose the large hole in the axel to line up with one of the four nuts h

what max means is hit the disc with a hammer so it sorta vibrates the AXLE loose

It is a HZ statesman salisbury diff which is off the car and is a bit rusty so may need some persuasion as suggested. I may have used the term "backing plates" incorrectly, the ones I was referring to are a

I watched my old man strugle for an hour trying to get axles out of a xu1,he had a long L shaped welded up gal pipe wich bolted to the axle and you then hit the other end (the L bit)with a sledge hammer.like i said it took him an hour.Dont know if ur stat

What max said is right put the disc on backwards and put three wheel nuts back on say about 6 turns and use the disc as a slide hammer.
just be careful cos when i did it the axel come out all of a sudden and hit my head on the side of the house.
