I have just brought a ford capri rolling shell from ebay for $600
Dont know if it is a 69 or 70`s model
I havent picked it up yet as when i contacted him he said he had no papers and the car has no tags only the numbers stamped in the radiator support pannel does anyone know if this is enough info for it to be re registered once its ready too.

This is what he wrote:

What I wrote above is true but you can now add:

1969 and 1970 models had a welded in cross member behind the gear

Well you are in luck and possibly out of luck.

If your body number is CK17 then you either have a 1969 1600GT which does not need a compliance plate or a GTV6 which is worth better money than $600.

As for the tunnel they contain a "horsesh

The 'JR' in CK17JR52728 denotes a June 1969 build date. Given that date, and that CK17 at the beginning denotes a GT, you have a 1600GT shell. The 10 71 the fellow is talking about is most likely stamped on the passenger side shock tower and this n

I think it may be a 70`s as it has a 140mph speedo where as i heard the 69 only went to 120mph
Cant be any older than 70 though as the seatbelt upper anchorages are on the quarter pannel and not the bpillar.

I ended up getting it but not for the price

Yes the number is what is on the slam pannel so he must of just swaped speedos.

The engine bay has been hacked to pieces and the sills are rusted apart.

I was thinking about getting a front cut and welding a new front on ?
I have found a 70`s 1600

That is some bad A pillar rust but Quinton's was nearly as bad and he brought it back:

Really you would have nothing to lose by trying to fix it except maybe time and effort.
