Going to rebuild my 253 and have been told to dont bin the steel gaskets. Can you, or is it wise to, re-use them as they are thinner gasket and the right cylinder/ bore size?????

Bin the steel gasket, zero deck the block and fit ACL AX130GTR head gaskets.

An old trick to re use copper head gaskets was to buy a tin of silver paint, Pour the paint out of the tin and paint the thick sludge from the bottom of the tin onto all of the mating surfaces. Re assemble and you are away if you really want to re use the
