What they are worth, $8-10k, what someone would get, $20-30k. What you pay? entirely up to you IMO, these figures are. Not an easy item to sell at the moment, trust me.

A lot of money if it has all its good bits. If you could get it for the above quoted figures go for it. Just check its a manual first.

Sorry worth & get,but they ARE an easy item to sell,if you dont believe they are just watch the ebay counters. as soon as a monaro goes on there the counters go thru the roof and in good (nos) condition they ALWAYS sell. But I do agree funny time to sell.

the counters may go through the roof, but that doesnt mean they sell, and if they do sell,as there have been many re advertised time and time again, good luck to the seller if he gets what they want or more importantly, need to get for the car, i guess its up to the buyer to pay what he thinks is fair. anyway, why should one sell at a price lower than what they need to, just because the economy is slow? if we all did that, we would be fools

Yep , thats what I mean, but a buyer as far as monaros and gt falcons go is contending with alot of others. This will get some attention....I dont think they are worth the prices some people are asking.IE $100,000 ETC they wernt that good when I bought them at $5,000 and no matter how much you pay ,they still have the same inherant problems.(I wont be answering anything about this as its just what I think)..

work backwards from the finished factory original price of about $150K... that is about what a fully restored period correct genuine 81837 should be worth in todays market....
if it is going to cost you $40, 50 , 60 thousand depending on your skill level to get it finished then that is a fair price on what the seller should be asking imo
now a lot of people can do most of the work themselves but many cannot and have to pay people to do it....

If its a manual and if the panel work was done properly its worth $70-80K, especially if its a rarer colour combo (not Verdoro Green). Anything less than this is good news for you

Thanks for your help , the car comes with the original Saginaw box plus a Powerglide . Has 2 Salsburys complete drum to drum LSD .
Motor is a 350 2 bolt cast # 3970014, plus another 350 in bits.
The rust was done by Gold Coast Customs , the body was sand blasted and all new panels butt welded , it has no bog at all (yet) but is very straight and is painted with super etch primer.
I got stuck into the many boxes today to find 3 GTS dashes , all the badges , and stainless trims are there plus heaps of extra spares . All the glass apart from the front windscreen is there plus new rubber kit (GMH).
Seats and interior (Black) all there , front seats need re-trim and right front door card has a small rip .
There is many more bits etc (has the Big fuel tank) . Tag reads 81837 and he gathered all the spares (gearboxes etc ) over the years with the intent to fix her all up as an Automatic (due to his age I think) but has fallen ill and has to move into care and wants to get it all out of his shed ASAP due to the house sale.
So I bought it with a $500 deposit ,pay the rest when I get a truck to pick it up. I hope I havent taken on to much work , but I think from what you guys have said I got it at a good price.
cheers for your help!

i always look at the monaros on ebay, but it doesnt mean ill ever buy one, (unless the prices come down ALOT further) when buying a car remember this, we are now in a buyers market and prices WILL fall until the economy recovers
if it wasnt for the last minute id get nothing done

this car can be had for mid 40s, even though it is a 6, its fully refurbished and well presented. gives you an indication of what these cars are really worth now, and also what you really will get http://www.australianmus...om.au/muscle/aussie.0.10

Well here we go again. firstly HT350, congratulations on your purchase and I wish you luck and godspeed with your restoration. Unfortunately this forum has, I believe, not helped in this instance in answering your particular question. In saying that, I dont think there is a definitive price guide for these cars anymore. In this case we read the opinions of anonymous posters like WORTH & GET, who gave us a 6 cyl example to compare values, where the origional topic was for a guide to HT 350 models. Any enthusiast worth his salt will tell you that a car like the one HT350 is looking to purchase, and this is not meant to undermine this vehicle in any way, cannot be compared to a genuine 81837, with full books, full history, matching numbers, immaculate condition, unmolested etc etc etc. My own opinion is that a car of this standard should fetch above the 200k mark due to condition, authentcity, race winning pedigre, and an important standing in Australian motor racing history. Now in saying that, i am talking about an HT 350 manual, and nothing else. With all due respect, the car HT350 is buying, even though sporting 81837 tags, also has a 2v motor and for the greater part comes in various boxes, however $3500.00 is a steal in my opinion. So uncertain economic climate or not, I believe that top end cars, and only the very best examples of that top end, will always be sold for big big dollars, because thats the way it is and should be.
To WORTH & GET, perhaps if you logged on as a member, your opinions may carry a little more weight.
These are only my opinins, Tony

Well said Tony. I think if its the genuine article its worth at least 10x what was paid for it.

Actually Shifty350 you are to be be commended on youre thoughts the [ TRUE] Muscle Car owners are generally sick and tired of all the stigma surrounding whats right and whats wrong if its truelly plated 81837 then its worth 2k plus rebodyed -reshelled if tis 81837 its gold

Start a good genuine GTS 327 or GTS 350 manual body and tags on Ebay (without all the other stuff that are reported to have come with this car) and see what it goes for especially if its one of the more popular colours. Id be surprised if it didnt hit $25-$35k. The lesser spec stuff has dropped off a lot, but good quality "pinnacle" (for want of a better word) cars such as HK/HT 1837, 72/73 Bathurst spec XU-1, A9X or L34 will always bring a premium. As Tony says the best of the best full document cars will be the most valuable.
