To allow proper crank case ventilation? Ever since fitting my twin carbs ive struggled vent the crank case. Tried three different styles of cap and still it blows oil out the valve cover. I just came back from a trip down the freeway, doing a bit over 3 grand for a few hours straight, and when i got home, most of the oil from the sump was all over my engine bay. it was everywhere! It all seems to come up through the vented oil filler cap. It's been WORSE since i fitted the roller rockers and new rocker cover, even though the holes in this cover are well baffled underneath. I know rollers need less oil, but that doesn't explain the overflow. On a short run tonight, same thing. It seems not to come out around the seal, but THROUGH the filter and out the holes in the cap. I'm wondering if running the PCV to one of the filters, which don't seal well on the carby horn, is getting enough vacuum? Oh, and it's an early Red, 2 hole rocker cover. By the look of the picture in the "Proud to have a little motor! " thread you have no PCV !!
The hole at the back of the rocker cover where the PCV valve is located, should be connected directly to the inlet manifold. Problem is X2 manifolds dont have |

Thankyou Dr Terry.
I do have PCV, its run to the front filter, and as such i thought it might be too weak for proper operation.
Would it work if i tapped into the blanking plates i have over those unused ports on either end of the manifold? (see pic |
