Hi Guys,

My 1974 HJ LS Coupe is close to a date with the paint shop!

I am open to any suggestions as to the colour.

As the car is not a matching numbers car and the original 308 and turbo 400 dissappeared long ago I dont think I am doing the car an injustice by going with a different colour too what it came with from the factory.

The original colour was Deville Blue and the car was then painted Mandarin Red?

The car has been fitted with a HJ GTS front clip and GTS black interior, dash and steering wheel. It has been lowered and is sitting on an nice set of Cragars. 8's on the front and 10's on the rear.

As the paint and body work is going to cost me in the region of $10-14K I am not taking this decision lightly!

What do the experts think?

I am leaning towards Silver Mink from the HK range or maybe I should go with something really left field like one of the "modern" Monaro colours??

Feel free to throw some ideas at me!

Cheers,
Allan

Ive only ever seen HJ GTSs in red, silver, yellow, green and from memory chamois. I reckon the silver one was the nicest. But if you have the LS nosecone (rather than GTS) It may look better in a dark blue. Of all the HJ-HZ fronts my personal favourite is

my favourite early coupe colours are Sunburst Metallic and Barbados Green....

dont paint it pearl unless your going to paint it yourself... it s good at hiding blemishes... and doesnt even look any good on rice burners...

Hi Leroy,

Fantastic effort mate!

Great too see so many cars in their original livery!

Do you only have albums for HQ-HZ?

Many thanks for all the ideas guys!

It has given me food for thought!

Cheers,
Allan

I have the same dilemma with my HQ LS. The tags are missing so Im thinking original style with some updated behind the scenes parts (HZ RTS Chassis , Commodore heater and AC box, maybe late model Monaro seats.)
Colours Im torn between Sable with Lone ORa
