cadillac had an alloy V16, roller cam, F1 type induction, and heated seats in 1930, go figure??

I agree with you Dr Terry, Holden has closed the gap alot with build quality with the VE....my angle was more the motors.
You have to compare Holdens with Mercedes ...after all some buyers go from one make to another.

Back on topic, "Cloudy" mentioned a HT Brougham with Holden badged underdash air conditioning.Does this mean the HQ models would be the first with intergrated air conditioning?

My HK has GM on the front of the fan unit above the speed knob, so would that be the frigidaire unit? I know the compressor is, anyway it cools well although the fan is noisy, nice to have A/C with a black vinyl interior when you live in SA

Yes the unit you described is right for the HK, they are a GM Fridgidair unit. They also have a lion badge on the left, although many seem to have a rubber bung in them. Not 100% sure why.

The same unit fitted to a chev would have a bow tie badge there

Air con in a HQ or XY back in them days was expensive. i think it works out, at least twice as much as todays cars do.

It was expensive "castellan" and rare.I first saw it in a friends "69 HO" falcon, that he bought as a demo,when I was a kid.It was intergrated,I guess holden was a couple of years behind back then.
