Guys does anyone know how to wire the 8 track cartridge player. It has a nine pin plug with power,ground included. This leaves 7 wires for speakers??. Failing that how would I do it!! Thanks

OK not an LE...but have an electrical bent.


What colour wires have you got ? are any paired up by colour?

I have a NOS one of these 8 tracks. There should be a 9 pin plug on the end of the wires.


In that plug, there is a red wire,
2 greeen
2 grey
4 black


As well as the black wire that attaches to the bolt on the back of the unit.

best guess by convention:
red wire = +12V
2 green = LH or RH channel front & rear
2 grey = LH or RH channel front and rear
4 black = earth returns for the above grey and green wires.

For some reason I am assuming stereo here. But I have dim recollection of quadraphonic as well with 8 tracks.

Thanks John. Yes it does have a dial to fade from front to rear so it must be 4 speakers. One of the black wires has a sticker on it saying GRND which I think is right as the unit fits into the head of the console and is insulated from the body of the car
