could someone please help me, I just put a VC-VK electronic dizzy on my 202 red motor (HX 1Tonner)and it seems to run OK buthas a hesitation on acceleration, the main problem is I can only time it by turning the dizzy till it runs smoothest as possible, as I'm not sure of the timing procedure for electronics, because I've always used a test lamp and statically timed the points dizzy and its always run great, but the elect. dizzy is wired differently, could someone please tell me if and how I can staqtically time it. Thanks

You will need a proper pickup timing light. Also make sure you have a full 12volts when in the run position as the old points had a resistor wire to supply 9volts

If anything the electronic dizy should make the old red run better, providing the electronics are fine. Wiring is simple, but make sure you use an electronic coil and not a points coil. Connect the original power supply only to the positive side of the co

Thanx Heaps Guys,

I changed the coil and leads and everything when I put it in, and wired it up properly, using a relay, not the best way I know , but only temporary until I have the time to pull the lower dash out and get to the wires behind the fu

Hi Guys.

Nothing wrong with running a relay.

The only alternative is to wire directly from the ignition switch, not the fuse box.

There are several (or 2 or 3 anyway) terminals on the fuse block which are only live with the ignition on. The main thing is they have to stay live while cranking. A simple test light can show that.
