Just wondering what the story is (was) with centre mounted areials above the windscreens on pannos. My HZ sandman has one, but was it original or stock standard? Cheers.

No it wasnt factory. As a matter of fact a radio wasnt standard in any Sandman either.

The centre mount aerial was just a 70s/80s aftermarket thing. Any panel van aerial, if a radio was optioned, was fitted to the left-hand front guard.

Thanks guys. I thought they were after market too but the reason I ask is my van is still in its original colours (never resprayed), and the aerial is also in the same colour. Carribean turquoise. Could it have been a factory option or is it more likely t

I quite like them as well. One of the reasons for their popularity (apart from looks) was that they were out of the reach & less likely to be vandalised by someone just walking alongside the car.
