Hi all,

I have what I think is a Trimatic auto, it's complete, but it has an interesting bellhousing and a different looking torque converter. If you look at it from the engine side/input shaft side the starter motor position is at the middle to top left, not the middle to lower right as with Holden 6s and V8s starter motor positions. Given that, what is this from?? I've heard that some Geminis had Trimatics fitted and had a 2000rpm stall converter too, could this be one of those?? If you know what it is, it's for sale too if anyone would like it. Hoping someone out there knows!!

Thanks

Peter

Could be Gemini. I think some Coronas had them as well, but since these were Starfires which are 173's minus 2 cylinders the starter should be as per Holden 6. I have a feeling that LH/LX Toranas and LX/UC Sunbirds also had a trimatic behind the Opel 4cyl

Hi Peter.

On the LH side of the Tri-Matics there is a small red ID plate, it has a 2 letter code on it.

If you could post that code, I can tell you exactly what it's out of.

Dr Terry.

I seem to remember once seeing a trimatic on an early 4cyl Torana engine (HB LC LJ TA type). The transmission was almost as big as the engine. Could it be off a slant 4 (1600 1760) powered Torana engine?
