327 chev and 350 are they the same blocks ?

327 chev and 350 are they the same blocks ?IE: a 383 stroker crank , can it be fitted to both these engines(with block clearance)as they are the same in bore size....Anyone know?

some of them are, some of them are not. the 327 ran from 1962 to 1969 i think they changed from small journal to large journal about mid - late 1967. the large journal 327 is interchangeable with 350 i.e. both have 4" bore STD. it wouldnt be worth th |

I thought small journal only ment the conrod journals? ..no?

and mains too, hence the cost on an alignment bore, and i dont know about 350 crank clearance issues a small journal block may have. WANTED: HZ sandman Van 6/10 or better. Edited by user Saturday, 11 April 2009 8:46:15 PM(UTC)

sure, parts are a bit dearer. you have to make sure you get the early timing cover, also, the early heads were good in their day i.e. double hump fuellie or powerpak (triangle on top of a rectangle casting).
