I have a turbo 400 behind a 308,WB electronic dissy.

I always thought it was best to hook vacuum advance up to carby vacuum rather then manifold vacuum. So when you rev it the dissy advances both centrifugal and vacuum.

BUT on my pre-pollution rochester (auto) the dissy outlet is a manifold vac. Therefore when at idle it gets full vac and when you rev it the vac drops off and the centrifugal advance comes in.
This may seem pointless.
SO my question is:
Is there a way to give my dissy a carby vac rather then a manifold vac?

Its 6 0f 1...half a dozen of the other.

Vacuum advance is for economy when cruising....and you have manifold vacuum when you are cruising...when you floor it manifold vacuum disappears and the timing retards....which is sort of what you want under acc

AGRO, the only difference between ported & manifold vacuum is at idle. Above idle, (cruising etc.) you will have the same amount of vacuum. The vacuum advance at idle is to give the engine a bit more torque when sitting in traffic in drive. If your car is

Dr Terry,

Isnt this why there are AUTO and MANUAL versions of carbies ?? So the vacuum porting works in the correct fashion.

Cheers John

Drove today like it and it was MUCH better.
It also seemed to change the exhaust note a bit too.
Now to change to a 2.78 diff and all will be well. :)
