Looking to replace the seatbelts in my HQ 1 tonner anyone know if you can get retractables.

These were basically standard in HJ-WB commercials. You have one problem though. Have a look in a HJ - WB and see where the retractable mechanism is mounted. A HQ doesn't have that mounting point. The point is also strenghened by a plate behind the sheetm

I have seen some after market ones in Auto One. I haven't used them though. I re used some we got out a HQ car we wrecked for my ute.

I don't really understand your point byron. I fitted retractables to my HQ tonner, they just bolted in to the normal places no modification needed. The bottom bolt on the pillar is a doozy but I wrapped a piece of fairly thick copper wire around the outsi

The normal place for a retractable mechanism on a HJ-WB 60, 70 or 80 body style is on side of the cab, about 6 inches below the rear window line. HQ's don't have a re-inforced mounting hole for the mechanism to bolt in this spot. If you bolt a seatbelt in

Mine had the retractor bit down the bottom of the pillar, it looked original but after 30 years who knows? Mine went over the pits quite happily with the new retractables fitted there. They probably never knew either.

Try Rare Spares. They sell a complete range of new retractable seat belts to fit a wide range of models. The HQ ones bolt to the original mounting points and are definitely an improvement in safety over the standard ones.

Sorry missed this been away. They were Britax brand, I have had them for a few years was going to put them on my EH never got around to it.
