Just reminiscing about being a young teenager standing on a corner in the middle of Sydney when a black holden ute stopped at the lights - it had a trans am custom front, full rear high level spoiler and was all black. At the time someone told me it was a Bob Jane ute - assume used for deliverys etc, however it had no markings to say this. Does anyone know whether this was a one off or whether Bob Jane used something like this.
Anyone got photos of utes like this - I have seen plenty of vans but not many utes,
cheers,
Scott

I remember a burgundy one with a similar setup - a trans-am front, and a huge wing in the rear of the tray that stood up as high as the roof of the cab. No chrome at all on it. It was in a car yard in Lansvale (NSW) in the late 80s.

If it was bob janes it wouldve been in orange, it may have belonged to a franchise owner, but as Bobs workshop was in melbourne, I doubt it wouldve been his, I used to live 4 doors up from there in 79 to 81, it wasnt uncommon to see his mechanics run the ford open wheeler or one of his production cars in full race glory up & down the tiny side streets of Brunswick, just of Brunswick Rd, Ahh those were the days.
I know of a HJ in sandman guise with a large spoiler as you described, I think it was the rub off affect of the Van modders of the day.

Some Bob Jane franchise utes had the high rear spoiler, never saw a trans Am front on one though. That is not to say some didnt have it. My mate bought an new HZ Sandman ute and he went to our local Bob Jane shop to find out where they got the rear spoilers from, they put him onto the supplier. Cheers, Pete.
