I have a set of original 15 inch SS Cragers with 235x60 series tyres. The tyres however run on the front guard. Whats the largest tyre size i can go on the front without rubbing on the guard? If anyone has gone through this exercise please let me know as i want to change the front tyres asap.

If your car is not a concours top of the wazza jobbie just roll the guards.
If it is you would not be sticking 15" rims on anyway.

just put a torana or jag front end in it for the front, the track is slightly narrower, and for the back, tub it, and then run 15 x 10 wheel and 39" slick..tuff car then..

I have 235/60-14s on with correct front springs, no problems. That larger diameter must be the problem. My 7" wheels are 107mm backspace.
I have 245/60-14s on 8s on the rear with similar backspace which do chirp a bit on a rough road.
Ive just scored 245/50-14 & 265/50 Yokies on ebay and am looking for suitable wheels. Im hoping the smaller diameter will keep them away from the bodywork.

Ive had these rims on my other GTS, but the lips were rolled. The HT GTS guards are in perfect condition and i want to keep them this way. When i compare the 235x60x15 with the standard 205x70x14 they look the same as in height etc. So it looks like ill have to try 215x60x15 at most.

Best advice is to go to a tyre shop and ask the question about the differences in width and heights over a range of tyres. Or do a Google and see if you can find a website with a comparison chart.

Just a couple I found quickly...
