I am a yank and I need the help of some Aussies. I have a 1989 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am GTA which uses an Aussie 9 bolt Borg Warner differential. This differential was used in Holdens and imported to the US for use in the GTA firebird and Iroc Camaros. Unfortunately parts for it in the USA are rather nonexistant. I am looking for a locker that fits it, or a limited slip differential preferably of the Helical gear type for this differential. It Is 7.75 inches Borg Warner Model 78 rear end. Anyone know where I can get this stuff online?

assuming its a 28 spline you can get a spool here: https://www.americanauto...session=150622749511069
If you are looking for an LSD center you will probably have to search around for something like the following model, but there are other makes and models as well GMH Holden Commodore 1987-1988 VL Turbo or V8

Yes those lockers are a good thing and I believe that you can get Aussie made ARB stuff cheaper in the USA than we can in Australia.
Someone was telling me that they could re import it from the states cheaper than they can buy it locally.
FWIW just about ever Ford Falcon from 1966-present that is factory 6 cylinder or 302 powered has a Borg Warner/BTR 75/78 diff and every single Falcon from 1979 onward has one under it.
If at first you dont succeed then skydiving is not for you. |

Thanks guys! I was tracking down a lead that the GTO (Holden Monaro VHX Vauxhaul) Detroit Truetrac might work but it is apparently a BW 80 rather than the 9 bolt 78 Im looking into the lockrite/lokka Aussie Locker thing at the moment.

Looked at the Lockers not going to work. I have a LSD now of the cone type which is more slip than limited now. The Lockers all need an open diff to work. Checking with Dana now.

Nuts. I am getting nowhere with this. It is really rebuild the stock cone type LSD or get another differential all together. Heck with it Im getting a Ford nine inch.
