if i lower my HX (which is currently sitting on standard springs with 14x5s) about 1 1/2 - 2 inches all round, what will be the widest wheels i can fit on?

Get on google mate. This topics come up in a lot of forums.

If i remember, you can squeeze 265 tyres under the rear with careful offsets and a bit of massage to lips and ridges in the body. So an 8inch rim quite easily.

There are all sorts of legal hurdles regarding maximum rim width increase and track differences. Look them up as well if you want to be totally above board.

dropped into a mates tyre shop yesterday. he was saying that there is about 12 265 50 14s yokoies left in aust. and less in BF in 265 and 245 14s. and your looking about 320 plus a tyre. 15s are not too bad. but going wider than a 235 is getting really pricey also.

I was chasing those sizes just recently, as in, two weeks ago here in Sydney. If there are any 265s left, theyre scattered around dealers, not in stock at Yokohama. At least thats what i was told by one of the direct dealers. Thats their Y352 muscle car tyre.

BFGs were available in small amounts in 245, i was told no 265. Through Antique Tyres. I think around $260 each.

I bought Bridgestone Eagers (S330) in 245x60, and they cost me $275 each, last two in the warehouse. You could pay more than that though if you find them elsewhere. Sumitomo do a 245 thats between $175-200, but have no stock.

Most people i hear who have found nice, wide tyres have just called around tyre shops and found some places that still have stock.

Happy hunting!
