Was thanked: 2 time(s) in 2 post(s)
none of them have progressed that far considering Chev had an OHV V8 in 1918 (mind you it had a total loss oil system with no rocker covers) and Scripps Booth put a 5 litre OHV V8 in their motor bikes around the same time. If they had the electronics available we do, what would they be making now? (well we know what Chev make but..)

Ive never been in a Porsche, but by looking at them close up youd get a fair idea of there intended use. Always was and always will be a chick magnet car.
One should never put practically before style......

I believe (as opposed to know, you have to write like this when certain people will read thread.) that the idea was under hard brakes weight is thrown forward and equal weight distribution happens but you must not do anything else through corner.....
...good theory or bad practise.....?

I thought Porsche still had the fastest time at the 7km Nurinburgring circuit and they are arguing with Nissan over
there GTRs times....?

Getting back to heading of thread "the pinnacle of design."

For example think about the average home lawn mower, it did reach its pinnacle of design many years ago, its a basic 2 valve pushrod 4 stroke air cooled carb motor with gravity fed fuel and rotor blade underneath. There are mnay examples of this but there basically
much of a muchness.
Where can the lawn mower design go...? watercooled ..fuel injection...supercharged...no....it already been at its pinnacle for ages...
This example is a correlation with what I was trying to suggest for discussion before, that the Ford 5.4 V8 might well be at that very pinnacle, which to be fair some other manufacturers are also there.

lets see some constructive comments this time.

This is the pinacle of V8 design.

You do much better than mounting the bastard upside down and it still being a go-er. Imagine doing that with a late model piece of s*** V8.

Yes they do get the looks from the girls but if you look like me that soon fails. Pretty girl crossing at the lights always has a sneaky glance at a Porsche then when they look inside the suddenly look where they are walking, in other words the Porsche opens the door but you have to have something to follow it up with.
Yes 911s have only one purpose apart from ego **** factor and it is to get from A to B fast. They are not tyre shreading 1/4 mile performance, I think the last one was about 14.2 (964) quoted in the owners handbook but the same performance all the way through. You change into top at a little over 200kph and put your foot down again and it still has the same pickup as in 3rd or 4th, they just keep hauling. Top end was quoted at 162mph in the handbook, and what other car can you buy that the owners handbook quotes performance figures and has a tacho as the primary guage on the dash?
Never tried that cornering approach though, just tried to be smooth and clip apexs. A little heart stopping when the front slips a little, maybe its just my sh!t driving?
Yes Nissan and Porsche are arguing over that, I watched the foxtel doc on the Nissan GTR.
Now remember Le Mans 24 hour that Porsche and Ferrari always fought over until that GT40 destroyed them in 66 and subsequent years. It just goes to show you can always be beaten.
Maybe it was good old V8 power and Ford can do?
As for the original thread I did post a nice pic of a Ferrari V8 that has all the right pieces but nobody noticed.
