Yes its probably overpriced, but why Mingswood? Its model is Monaro GTS, not even a hint of Kingswood like in HK-HQ.

Dont forget the Hotwires on this super rare example. Im with you on this princess, these are an embarrassment. You could always get a guru to sign under the hood as this should get it to win a nationals even if its got an obvious restamp.

OK ill bite. By the same reasoning then it also means all XR-XB GT 4-doors that arent GT-HOs are also worthless, since the tags mean nothing...
I also dont ever recall seeing a factory HJ GTS with stripes. Why a Kingswood with stripes anyway? Why not a Belmont?

Lighten up guys and have a laugh.
Some tosser is selling a 4 door HJ GTS for $48,000 and its not even a Buy it Now as he is obviously hoping for more!
Coupled with this it requires work as it needs a little panel and a repaint. Look at what you can see under the hood, wheres the correct aircleaner etc. Also a set of rims required. All this without full pics that no doubt would show all the other things wrong with it.
Buy this, get it repainted and no doubt retrimmed, then buy a heap of parts and you could have a HJ owing more than a 81837 car.
What are the members supposed to write?
Im with Frank $8,000 and even at that I dont want it.

Thats better, proper reasons for it being too pricey. I wasnt really interested in that anyway. You may have to up your offer to $8500 as by the looks of things you are going to need to buy the trailer as well.

[/quote] I believe bosko would be taking the K off Kingswood and replacing it with the M from Monaro. And knowing boskos lovely demeanor I would guess this is meant as an insult towards 4 door Monaros. Thus this would mean he is a coupe person and explain to a degree why he is a KE10 owner. I get what hes doing and why he has done it before with HQs since a 4-door HQ GTS is an optioned Kingswood. Just not sure how the connection is made to a HJ-HZ GTS.
It should also be pointed out that a HK-HG Monaro is also a Kingswood spec vehicle, probably even more so than a HQ XV4 or XW8 as for example a HT Monaro (0437) isnt even an option pack on a Kingswood:
04 = V8 Kingswood/Monaro.
37 = Coupe
So to be fair to a 308 4spd HQ XV4 optioned Kingswood or HJ GTS 4-door (which is a model in its own right) both are essentially less Kingswood in intent than a 308 4spd 10bolt HT Monaro is.
Im not picking holes in Boskos post for no reason. He is the first to pick up someone elses mistakes, so just letting him know hes not beyond reproach. I certainly agree the HJ in question is way too expensive in its asking price.

Mingswood comes from having a Monaro badge on a Kinswood body (4 doors) doesnt it?
Ford never called the GT Falcon 4 door anything that it really wasnt. I liken a 4 door GTS being called a Monaro to Ford calling a four door Falcon a Mustang (which it isnt) or even a four door LTD a Landau sedan.
Holden made a base model Monaro for a few years. It had two doors and basically Kingswood trim levels but they didnt call it a Kingswood coupe and rightly so because the Monaro had a specific body style & stylish it certainly was.
Then with the HQ some goose at Holden decided to stick the Monaro moniker on a 4 door Holden which should never have happened and cheapened the Monaro name (my opinion).
Instead they could have just made a GTS spec sedan and call it something like Holden GTS which they finally got right and did with the HZ GTS.
Dont get me wrong a 4 door GTS is still something special and because Holden called it a Monaro then it still is a Monaro (unfortunately).
They also got it right with the HQ SS as there is no confusing it with anything else and look at the long line of special Holdens wearing the "SS" badge that spawned.
It probably doesnt help that I used to be an apprentice in a Holden dealership in the early 80s and the ranga <SP?> that I had to answer to was a right f#$%wit who had a 4 door HQ GTS.
