Jakab was based in Tamworth so maybe someone from there could have some knowledge. Most of the other assemblers would have had an ID plate from them as the builder but the chance of those companies being around these days is pretty remote.

my HQ ambo was built in brisbane at superior body builders, they are still operating today, the previous owner andy (LHQ-253) rang them and they said they dont keep records and have no infomation about the ambulances they used to build, andy has just brought a HQ police car, it still has the original speedo, it goes to 130mph and has a fine needle

The 82 vic ambos have build plates and up but have not as yet found who built the others thats why i am looking for people or those that know someone that was involved in the building of ambulances them. Dave i have found a screamer type siren like a number of the hqs had some had eiectronic now as for your front if its a factory 308 even as a Belmont there is a 99 percent chance it had a premier front air con and power steering definitely had a premier front a 6 or 253 would a be single head lamps with the nsw rego number it had the guys may be able to find it on a photo nsw wont give them the number but as the owner you can get the number from them or vic roads may have it still on there records .

from the tags, it is a belmont, factory 308, at has power steer and air con it has intermittent wipers (unsure if factory), i think i will put a prem front on it

how much do you want for the siren?, i also need the roof vent, did they have flashing lights also?

also, what is the go with the blacked out bonnets? when did that start and what is the reason for it

thanks for your help al

just the hella rotator/beacon on the roof. its not my siren can you email me as to the most you can will pay and i will negotiate with the guy that is the owner.
the blacking out of the bonnet is to stop the glare from the sun off the bonnet you will also notice some types of trucks have it to for the same reason

MackV8.. I owned the HR Divivan that is still making the rounds of All Holden Days in Vic. for 4 years ... the previous owner was an inspector or something like that and gave me photocopies of the 60s disposal records pertaining to HR and the Fords that replaced them.

If I can find them i will send you a copy.

Hi mackV8.
I start work as a paramedic in Melb in 2 weeks so if i get any insider info from some of the old school blokes in there ill find out what I can for you.. I know they build most of the fire truck bodys and do a lot of the modifications here in ballarat too so someone in that company might know something. Cheers.
