my brother inlaw has a HX tunna had an old 308 turbo350 anyways he droped a lobe of the cam so he took it to GRUNT Automotive at clontarf north brisbane and was going to get a VN V8 T5 conversion done which was gunna cost $3500-$4000 so he paid upfront which i told him not too. anyways this guy took the engine exuast gearbox the lot and then went broke and disapeared. took 4 months to get the car back which was locked in the shed all that was left was a vn long motor which needed rebuild and his rolling ute. he lost his engine gearbox exuast and $3500 engine even had a brand new street avenger which he paid $590 for.
been trying to track this bloke for over 12 months he seems to have vanished if anyone knows his where abouts we just want the money still have reciepts my bro inlaw wants to take him to court.

Sorry to hear about the rip-off, but in NSW all workshops (& mechanics) are licensed & can be tracked by the Dept of Fair Trading. Is it like this in Qld?

BTW, whats a Street Avenger?

sorry to hear bundy, the whole conversion sounded to cheap anyhow no wounder he went bust.
you cant track the owner of the shed down he would know who he was?
this is why most workshops wont do these types of jobs there is no money in it,you cant charge the true time it takes, more money can be made doing service work and repairs.
also engine rebuilds a car could take a bay up for 3 weeks while it,s all done, that area could be better used.
also that area there seems to be plenty of comers and goers.
i had my hk coupe in a panel shop near my work at virginia, not much work got done on any car, one day a security guard at the gate no rent paid for six months, got a truck got my car outta their striaght away, took it to a well known shop it cost me but it was done in weeks.

Well dont shoot me down if I am wrong but this is what I have dug up.
The Following info is for a Grunt Automotive in QLD so I would gather its the same guy.

The guys name.... DAVID A MCLEAN
He is not currently registered for GST but has a ABN.
Current registered Post Code...4034 QLD Which I believe is the Boondall/Aspley area.
I see this guy has changed post codes a few time in the last few years makes you wonder why.

01 Oct 2003/21 Jul 2004 QLD 4017
21 Jul 2004/18 Aug 2004 QLD 4506
18 Aug 2004/23 Nov 2005 QLD 4019
23 Nov 2005/14 Apr 2008 QLD 4019
14 Apr 2008/ (current) QLD 4034

Hit the white pages and see what you can find.

Cheers.

If hes not registered for GST it means his gross annual turn over is less than 75K. A guy down the road from me runs a mechanical workshop from a rather large shed in his back yard and a while ago was telling me he has a gross turn over of approx. 250K but around two thirds of it is parts and ancillaries. If GRUNT automotive was running at about the same percentage no wonder he went broke....

ok, obviously nobody told you this guy has passed away, everyone knew he had very serious cancer and closed up shop. Im a family friend. Don't contact his former wife she has had enough dramas or his other mechanic. Unfortunately this happened but nothing more can be done. Its actually illegal to give out those profile adresses m.driscoll like you have. Unfortunately nothing can be done now.

synagy, i knew about his condition. however felt it was irrelevant to mention at this point, as i was unaware he'd passed away.

i will edit my earlier post accordingly, as now it's pointless to even disclose those details.

keeping in mind, this does not change any wrong doing whatsoever.

Synagy your "family friend" appears to have done the wrong thing. If so, his estate could be subject of a claim (bundybluedog's brother in law) for money owed. You say nothing more can be done but that may not be correct. Maybe the right thing to do is for the famiily to make things right with bundybluedog's brother in law.

There was no estate, he was made bankrupt before passing. As with his wife.
Him and his wife had divorced already and his mother passed away 4 months later.
There is no other family.
I can find out the details of his bankruptcy.
