Hi,
I need some help with my engine. I've got an alloy headed 250 X-flo from an XE falcon in my XB ute and need to know the initial timing. It's currently around 6 degrees BTDC, is this right. Thanks.

yes thats fine,but i have found they run better at 9deg btdc.just remember to unhook your vacuum advance when you set it.then remember to put it back on when your done

well boys lets really play 4.1 litres well try doing the ignition on an rebore to 4.6 250 bhp
6 decs maybe trying to start l have mine set std on 8 dec with L.P.Gas and 10 over for Av-gas

Cheers fella's. should be good then but I might try 9 degrees and see what happens. I was only wondering because it's got a miss and I've done the plug's next are leads and then the dizzy. It comes and goes so i dont think its compression, but I'll test t

xd and xe have electronic,there a good unit

that is an good question as Xe falcon came out with both points and electronic the way to tell what yours is take the dissy cap off and look if you see contact points well its non -electronic
with that looking at the the electronic dissy it has an plate

electronic ignition is great as it uses lees power to operate then point systems as point need 12 volt to make an spark
in turn both dissy are good and l have had both and found the electronic is better for adjustment

Nah the XD iron head had points the alloy head XD went electronic (according to the 1980 TV ads) so I doubt that the XE ever had points.
