My daughter is awaiting delivery of a new XR6.When she placed her order she was informed that an LSD was not available as an option,it is only fitted to Turbo XR's and XR8's.Would anyone know why it's not available, the dealer sure doesn't.

I think you will find the limited slip diff not being fitted has something to do with the stability control system. I remember reading somewhere that it was something like that anyway so it's not an oversight on Fords part.

Yes Paul that makes sense. If one rear wheel loses traction the computer will apply the brakes to that wheel thus transferring the torque to the other rear wheel which makes it an LSD by stealth I suppose.

Take one for a test drive, put the two left

I understand what you are both saying, traction and stability control wasn't around when I last optioned an LSD. However the turbo and XR8 have both as standard, why is that.

They would be calibrated differently and as a real performance car they would "have" to have an LSD whether it's needed or not.
