g'day all my xr has the super pursuit badges and is a falcon 500, what does super pursuit mean? anything different to the car at all engine brakes?

Hi Browno, My father bought an XR wagon new,and I believe there were two sixes on offer. "Pursuit" and "Super Pursuit",the latter being more powerful.

Super pursuit was just a better way of saying it had a pursuit motor in it. As per 81837 says..a marketing ploy.
The motor had a red rocker cover to make it go faster!

The XP had a "Pursuit" engine which was the big cube 170. With the XR the standard engine was the 188 and the big cube "Super Persuit" was the 200 cubic inch big block six 8-). Or was it that the standard was 170 the Pursuit was the 188 and the Super Pers |

thought it wasnt anything to special. i think it was the 170 in the xr and 188 in the xt for the standard engines i think... my one never had a red rocker cover it was gold with a gold air cleaner...one thing that interests me is that the orignal motor '' |

Back in them days a 170 pursuit. was just that a pursuit! you had just gone for the performance option. and the 200 super pursuit. was the big gun. the 200 ci motor was fully imported from the USA in the XM & XP auto only. the 3 sp manual could not handle

The 188 ci and 221 were in the XT and XW. The 221 had 3.6L decal on the gaurds. i dont think the 188 had anything there. but the 221 rocker cover was silver. 188 colour i don't know.
