Sorry to be a bit of a "black cloud" today

Yesterday my partner and I drove past where those 4 kids died on the weekend ... it's on a fairly clear "T" corner with a Servo on the kids' right and not much on the left, giving a clear view of the main road in both directions as well as good distance of view for anyone approaching down the main road too.

At 1am the area would've been pretty dark so approaching vehicles should have been obvious from their headlight glow at quite a distance, so I have to ask ...

"How did this happen ?"

Now I am not blaming anyone - I'm sure that will come out in the investigation.

It guts me to see the pictures of smiling, happy kids and then to go past an see the crowd of similar age kids there - miserable and sad at their passing.

I love driving ... they might've too ... but now they'll never get to experience what you and i enjoy so much with a like minded group of friends.

I can only hope their friends and schoolmates can learn from the pain of their loss ... so not to put their own loved ones through the same grief.

I wish all who are left behind my sincere condolences at your loss and I hope an explanation helps the grieving process.

For me though I have to ask "Are we really sending them out there ready enough ?"

We Wreck, you are right regarding the total lack of control many of the youngsters in my area (I live in Hallam) have... regarding safety, respect, obeying traffic signals, etc.

A lot seems to have been said about the 3 who died in the black Commodore

My heart goes out to those families involved.

Being a father of a P plate teenager I am very disappointed with my son's driving habbits.
Because we live in rural S.A. I would take my son out on the dirt roads at 15 and teach him how to drive.

GTS308, I do not envy GOOD parents these days... as we so often see the results of parents who have throw their hands up in despair misguiding those around them into illegal activities.
I guess we can only hope that the well-guided can have the presence

Thanks for the replies people I appreciate it.
I thought my son would have known better due to me being in a very bad accident in 2002 caused by a P plater rear ending my car while she was putting lipstick on. She pushed me head on into a 4x4 coming the

GTS308 you were lucky to get out of that one alive. I've got a son on P plates and so far we have been very fortunate.
He seems to have an understanding of mortality that many of his peers don't possess. People driving crazy isn't just teen

Driving a car is a serious job. It is not like laying in bed, on the couch watching TV, yakking to friends on the mobile, doing makeup etc.

Be serious FFS

I was fortunate to grow up in a smallish country town. me and my mates were all into surfing and had gutless diesel 4x4's so all our stupidity was done on the beach or trying to cross creeks etc. By the time i got a car with any power I'd gotten more resp

Needs to be more on driver education in regards to mental awareness of approximately 1 tonne of metal able to mangle, squash, kill, murder you or other human beings. Do you go around with a sledge hammer smashing peoples heads in that you have never seen

I read in Saturdays paper that a 21 year old woman got distracted by the memorials on that intersection last Friday and drove under a truck which killed her too. As a result the council planned to remove the memorial display.

Yeah interesting that one Jim. Personally I believe there is a place for that sort of thing and as much as people want to remember and honor their parted loved ones it should be kept away from road sides. In S.A. you used to be able to request a black roa
