As the RTA rules read, only cars built 1972 onwards are affected by engine swaps or engine mods. So a 63 Zephyr or an XY Falcon shouldnt need to comply.

I probably worded it wrong but the Zephyr was dead stock. I was just saying that the same workshop passed an pre ADR27a vehicle with a no longer complying to 27a engine but then failed a bog stocker.

Yes but you can fail a bog stock car if its breathing too much. What reason was given for the Zephyr failing, no PCV or just too much breather smoke.
We used to see a lot 60s cars with fumy motors back in the 70s & 80s & they way to make them pass a rego check was to fit a PCV (or other device) to reduce the fuming.

No she was not smokey at all. Only had done 54,000 miles. I believe that the RTA had been at them for being "lenient" with their inspections so they failed something that they could fix immediately.
I took the Wifes Commodore there for a rego test some years ago and the son had a go at the father because he had not failed a single car that day. The Fathers answer "they are all being presented in roadworthy condition thats why I havent failed one"
I helped them out one year when I booked my car in for a rego inspection and an exhaust system replacement. Told them they could do the rego inspection first, fail it, replace the exhaust then pass it if all was good then. They took me up on the offer.

True. I wonder if that was their intent? _______________________________________________________ If we all had the same (good) taste, who would buy all the Fords? |
