Hi
Mr Rod Harvey from the National Motor Racing Museum,Bathurst has this morning confirmed the availability of the Warwick Yellow 13D Bruce McPhee tribute car for our display at the 2009 Musclecar masters. Eastern Creek Raceway. 6th September 2009.
The display is in appreciation of Bruce McPhees outright victory in 1968 driving a Warwick Yellow "Bathurst Special" GTS Holden Monaro and Second place outright in 1969 driving a Silverfox Ford Falcon GTHO in the Bathurst 500 mile race. Both results achieved as a privateer.

Bruce's original 46D Silverfox GTHO has been located and is in the final stages of restoration. Its current owners are making every effort to have this car ready for the event.

The display, to be located in the "Featured Marques" area at this years masters will feature pristine examples of each race car in Warwick Yellow and Silverfox. These vehicles will also be seen on the track during the Parade laps sessions.

If you have a Warwick Yellow GTS Monaro or Silverfox Falcon GT and would like to participate in the display please contact the undersigned.
Thank you.

Nick Moran.

I know Bruce raced many other times at Bathurst and other races, what about those cars also? (if you are going to worry about a second place then why not other results?)

Hi Warren
Thanks for your comment. As a friend of the family and from my end ALL of Bruces achievements are significant.

There are a number of reasons why we have not addressed the others.

Number one is that the Musclecar Masters celebrated cars from 1968 last year and this year celebrates 1969 cars. The area where these cars are to be displayed is called the "Featured Marques" area and is restricted to 1969 models.I would expect that there will be a few hundred Fords, Holdens and Valiant in this area. As such our small display is primarily featuring XWGTs in Silverfox. The second place 46D car is directly relevant to the allocated area.

We are fortunate to have been given permission to run the 68 Monaros in beside the Silverfox cars.

The original plan was to do this last year with only the Yellow 68 Monaros with Bruce in attendance but it did not get off the ground.

This year we decided to do Silverfoxes after finding the 46D car and we thought it would be a very rare occasion, rarer still if we could find some Warwick Yellow Monaros.

After a recent club BBQ run to Bruces Farm where over 60 GT and Monaros turned up the family have become most keen to do a get together each year as a fundraiser for a charity. My suggestion is Alzhiemers Australia. So we will get this display completed and then plan an annual display. I am taking your comments as a suggestion and I think it would be terriffic to see models of ALL cars from his career. It would be a fitting appreciation of his very successful carreer.

Kind regards

Nick Moran.

A good way to recognise Bruces other Bathurst achievements would be to make a display board listing them.

How many drivers have this sort of record?

1963 - 3rd Cortina GT
1964 - 7th Cortina GT
1965 - 2nd Cortina GT500
1966 - 3rd Mini Cooper S
1968 - 1st HK Monaro GTS327
1969 - 2nd XW Falcon GT-HO
1970 - 2nd XW Falcon GT-HO

This is for Bathurst only. As Warren has said he raced at many other tracks as well.
