The last Pagewood HQs rolled off the line at the end of September 74, with VIN H830XXX, some 15,000 bodies later.

I had (and should of kept!) a HQ with a delivery date of 2/10/74, they may have stopped making them at this point but obviously still had some still floating around waiting to be sold.

Interesting one on eBay at the moment A NZ build 8N69LCZ775127.
It has a 74 engine number, but possibly assembled in NZ in 1975.
Refer the rego 7T5HQ.
First rego Aug 1975???

Hi Rod,
Yeah, that ones a beauty. Dig the Z VIN prefix! Looks like they didnt use any blackish paint on the firewall and in the boot area, over there in Z land. I recon the number plates are pretty cool too!

During 1974 in NZ, the tax was changed on new cars , big cars were hit bad ! sales of big cars almost came to a halt , This is why we still had HQs thur well into 75 , I think first HJs must have started NZ ass in sept 75 ( This is when NZ paint chart for HJ colours was released ) Mark.

Some cars just dont move, it wasnt that long ago that the Holbrook Holden dealership sold a brand spanking new VL Walkenshaw, only some 15 years after it was out of production, but still came with all the factory warranties, there is also a dealer up the north of NSW who has a brand new GTR XU1 avaliable, but just a little more than what it was worth in 73, just add a couple of extra zeros to the original price, another dealer out west NSW has a HT monaro sitting in his show room, it was the test car & wasnt sold, so techincally still new.

Well I think I know why this prem s/w sat around so long it was chrome yellow with juniper (appears to be a very dark GREEN ) interior . It is now painted white and interior has faded to look black . Mark.

That answers something that has been troubling me for a while. I have an NZ built HQ statesman (hasnt left our shores) with the tags listing a 75 build date. Its all genuine, even have the original ownership papers after 13+ owners.
