Just got finished doing my HQ coupe rehash. Removed a 350 with saginaw and put back original 308 with all aussie, We wreck will get some mileage out of that one. Just getting back a little closer to stock. Full windscreen forward rebuild, motor, clutch, chassis, paint, brakes, pipes, the lot.
Bit of a difference in engine from 350 although 308 not yet run in and have not given it any stick. Bigger difference in gearbox the aussie is not as direct and smooth as the Saggy draws and has a much longer throw. The big thing was the cost, what started as a quick pull that motor out and put that one in ended at about 11 big ones, and that is doing everything bar paint ourselves, the cost sure does get away when your having fun.

No, tell you what I will be down in a couple of weeks, you and your lovely lady can show me the sights of Melb call you very, very shortly.

Thanks LHQ 253 it has come up roses, still a lot to go. windscreen back, my best advice, I used second hand #hit here and there, big mistake. bitten bum

Cannon, didnt you apply the old "think what itll cost and then double it" equation? But glad youre doing it properly.

We Wreck, i had another person recommend you highly today. Guess ive got to get that little trip up north organised and score me some HQ parts!

ahhh dont ya just love recommendation???? HQforme, my advice doesnt come cheap though, but we will wotk that out over a short black gelati...lol but stick with me and you will be wearing diamond rings my friend.
the best advice i will give you about motoring investments is to buy a HO, not a stinking HK with a pretend muscle car pedigree..simple. plain and straight forward, like i said, the difference between us and them is that they eat "peters" icecream, we want to eat home made sweet "gelati".....

No I didnt HQ as I was only going to do a quickie with a fresh engine as this car is my traveller, but I am glad I kept going and did half a reasonable job as its a nice 74 Orchid Mettalic 4 speed coupe so it was worth a little extra effort. Front seats are next they were perfect, but another lesson DO NOT put armour all on your old trim and seats. It destroys them, they go hard and brittle and now I have to get them redone when there was no need so BEWARE!!of that crap

a word of advice with we wreck, hes not tooo bad a bloke but try to refrain from tooo much praise as you may inflate his head more than Kevvy Rudds. LOLLOLOLOLOL.
Dunno about the HO HO HOS being a great investment we wreck, I reckon there might be a few astute HO investors about with a sore arse and smaller bank balance nowadays, ooohhh my balls

Can not agree more Cannon, I had a bottle of this SH!TE sitting on the wall in my shed. Would have been there a couple of years, not in the sun, just on a ledge in the back corner. Went to grab it one day and the bottle just broke up in my hands, spraying the muck everywhere. Now... If this stuff can not protect the bottle that it is being stored in, there in no way in hell that it is ever going anywhere near the trim in my car.

Hi Cannon, Sounds about right comparing with other cars I know of. My 350 4-speed is costing a bit more but its my car and I want to enjoy a brand new HQ coupe experience. The day of hitting the road is drawing nearer. Always nice to hear of HQ fans going the factory original route.

My own preference leans to original. That said, my HQ Premier project
will be a 350 with TH700. Inside & out will be orignal- Royal Purple
not sure about the white roof yet. Keeping the bench and adding hang on AC.
But I wont be cutting any metal. Too many have been butcherf with badly cut floor shift, speaker holes etc.

A tarted up Fairmont is NOT a legendary muscle car.
