Hi Folks A while back my top tank popped a small leak in the soldered join. I had the guy who re-coed it resolder the tank. He reckoned that combustion gasses were pressurising the system. I have ben running around for a few months now and it's popped in exactly the same spot. I had a TK test done this week and the engine is all OK (it should be it's only done about a 1000K's). I have purchased a new thermostat and drilled a few 3mm holes in the flat plate to let pressure back into the block on the advice of a couple of different people. The radiator is off for another repair job by a diiferent company this week...can anyone suggest anything else I can check while I've got the bonnet up and the tools out?

If you have you have a blown head gasket you would be able to see bubbles in the coolant while the engine is running at idle and at normal operating temperature. It is unlikely I reckon. It is important that you let all the air escape from the cooling sys

Have you tested the cap? It might be faulty and not releasing the pressure.

Hi guys Thanks for your comments. I have organised another shop to pull off the top tank, resolder it and pressure test it. While I'm there I'll grab a fresh cap just to be safe. Cheers
