Can someone confirm the original spoke thickness for a 71 HQ steering wheel... is a 5mm spoke original or were the the 3mm wheels early and then the whhel uprated tp 5mm later in production... I am getting conflicting stories as I have always thought the 5mm wheel was standard and the 3mm was the reproduction..
thanks in advance
Al

To my knowledge, the GTS Steering wheel with 3mm spokes was introduced for ADR29 in early 1977.
The GTS steering wheel with 5mm spokes would be original for an HQ.
Both are genuine.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |

thanks Greg and Dr Terry... any ideas why they would de-engineer something... usually you would uprate something because of quality issues.
cheers Al

My guess would be for "collapsability" (if thats a word) in the event of an accident. Basically for safety reasons and design rules as stated.
