Does it only backfire when you accelerate? If so, is it getting plenty of fuel? Are accelerator pumps working OK? Have you wound the boost up lately? Is it detonating? Or has it been detonating and damaged anything.

Causes of backfiring.... lean? Timing? Intake valve damage or not seating?
How consistant is it? My twin-carbed 202 runs beautifully right now, but every now and then when i blip the throttle on downshift it backfires lightly and doesnt rev. Just a weird combo of engine speed, throttle and my tune i guess.
If it happens constantly under accleration, and didnt before, its more of a problem. When was the last time you cleaned out your carby and fuel lines? |
