my vx commodore is due for its 110,000 k's service, part of the service is a auto service, being the tight arse i am iv'e been servicing the car myself since 80,0000, doing what it recomends in the service manual

my question is, what needs to be done for a auto service? is it something i can do in my driveway?

i assume it's just change fluid and filter and replace sump gasket, is that it or is there adjustments to be done?

ooops, well, whatever bit it is in the trans that ya put a harder spring, or longer rod in DOC(oops longer rod might be for my C10s), i reckon you know the bit i mean, the part that regulates the pressure for the pump, yanno the bit, just pull the pan, screw out the solinoid or sumfin like that, and bang, firm shift...i think thats what i did, probably would have been better if we plugged it into the tech 11 and cheated the electrics..but i better shut up, im diggin meself into a hole now..haha

I disconect the hose coming from the tranny to the top of the radiator, leave enough to poke into a bucket and get your wife or son or who ever to start the car with the selector in neutral. then drain the tranny. as soon as its runs out shut it off or you may hurt the pump. then i add another litre and just drain it again to flush it a bit. now you can easily remove the pan without litres of oil going everywere. change filter and clean pan. hook hose up add oil and your done. takes about 30 mins. and saves you 200 bucks

Mine is a vn so im not sure if its the same setup but mine just pushed in no screws. I used dextron III and i used about 6 litres i think. you never really get all the old oil out. i just filled it to the neutral marker then warmed the oil up and checked it.

make sure you change the filter seal it will stay in the valve body, carefully pry it out with a screw driver then tap the new one in with a socket press the new filter into seal.
if you dont it can suck air causing it to burn it self out.

if its gen 3. its alot easier to remove 1 or both 02 sensers. you can buy putty like stuff to clean the 02 sensers. i got my shift points changed on my vx ss. when my mate mafless tuned it. he got the car computer to tell the box computer to raise the pressure. it changed like a t400. i done 100 000kms like this. it used to chirp the tyres into 2nd.
