Why was Beverley Hills RS/American Autos closed down?

Initially, RS/AA used to be located in Liverpool, then relocated to Casula, and then relocated to Beverly Hills, where an existing auto shop was overtaken with RS products.

Now, there is only Homebush.

Considering that most, and I stand corrected here, car enthusiasts live out west, either towards Campbelltown or Penrith, you would think that Homebush would relocate out to these suburbs.

I hope their mail order service is up to speed with this closure.

I wasnt aware theyd moved from Parramatta road?

Yes, i agree much of the car scene exists in Sydneys further suburbs, more south and west, but there is still a strong scene north of the CBD, or inner west, its just a little insulated. Homebush is easily accessed from all locations. In fact, knowing the areas well its quicker to get there from Liverpool than the North Shore. Admittedly Campbelltown and Penrith are further afield, but still, a neutral point is needed.

I was at RARES a few weeks ago and they asked me for my postcode. They were trying to decide whether to move Homebush somewhere else. It looks like Homebush was central to all, and Beverly Hills was not. I would think that they have consolidated for now, but will expand more west, when things pick up. FWIW, John

when i was putting my panelvan together. i drove up to Beverley Hills shop and asked for a number of items. they didnt have anything in stock and was too busy watching a dvd with his mate. i did get they are getting a large shipment to homebush and can have it dropped off here next week. so in the end.i just rang melbourne and got all i needed over night. getting alot from melbourne saved me alot time and cheaper than driving. few mates in wollongong get their stuff sent up from melbourne now.

I have been to RS in Queensland (Bowen Hills) before they relocated to Capalaba and I can remember they used to have more stock than Homebush. I dont know whether thats still the case now.

Its good that Javnner and his mates are ordering their stuff from Melbourne, its just a pity that Homebush havent worked out their customer service skills need improving after all these years. Maybe they need a new database or a new manager???

Thanks: 2 times
Like most of us Ive had both good and bad parts from RS, but except for one time Ive always had good service and Ive always found Joe at Homebush to be very helpful and keen to do business. I live on the NSW south coast and have never visited an RS store so I always use the online order system.
My 2 cents worth.

Not such a bad idea to approach Rares management about lack of stores.
If you are a member of a Car Club, have the club committee strike a deal with them in setting up a club discount arrangement. Over the long haul of repairs or a resto, the savings can add up. Makes getting items sent from Melbourne all the more reasonable cost wise along with the better availability.
